Farming Spots in WoW (you are here)

Elemental Materials
Ever
since the beginning of WoW, elemental materials have always been recommended as the go-to item to farm. The
larger versions (essences, primals, eternals) have always sold for a decent amount of gold and always have a
quick sell rate.
However,
this leads to competition for gold-farmers. Gold Farmers can farm these items around the clock which drives the
price for these items down to an unprofitable level. Even if you are the fastest farmer in the world, farming
these elementals is rarely worth it.
Instead,
I find that the market for the old-tier elementals is fantastic. You
can often sell Tier 1 elemental material for tons of gold. As an example, at the time of this writing,
wowhead.com has the listed median for Essence of Air sitting at 17.5 gold a piece and Breath of Wind sitting at
9 gold each. At a 30% drop rate for Essence of Air, this is very profitable.

Dust
Stormers spawn heavily in Silithus and have a 30% drop rate of Essence of Air and a 10% drop rate of Breath of
Wind.
Taking
these drop rates into account, 17.5 gold * .3 (30%) + 9 gold * .1 (10%) yields an average mob value of 6.15
gold. Add in that their trash drop value is worth 40 silver plus any rares and epics they might drop and you
will find that these mobs are worth 7 gold a piece!
These
are level 55 monsters! Even a healer can kill them in a few seconds. Killing very slowly @ 1 monster per hour
yields 420 gold per hour. Faster players can easily kill 2 or more per hour and earn in excess of 1,000 gold per
hour!
The Catch
If these
items were so profitable, why are they not farmed as much? Well, you can easily over-saturate the market. If you
farm for a few hours, you can easily pull in anywhere from 50-100 essences and 10-20 Breath of Winds in an
hour.
You will
find that only 5-15 essences and 1-5 breaths will actually be sold on the Auction House in a day. The way you
maximize your profits here is to only list about 8 of each item at a time and keep the rest in your
bank.
Place
all your elementals up for buy out and leave the time up for 48 hours. Every day or 2, check the Auction House
and re-list ones that didn't sell and replace the ones that did sell with the items you already farmed. The good
thing is these items are practically free to list, so you can keep listing them over and over again for 48
hours. No rush.
The key
is to farm up a bunch at once, and then slowly list them up on the auction house along with your other items in
listed in this guide so you have a steady revenue stream of ~100 gold per day.
If you
really like to farm, you can always farm Tier 1 Elementals for awhile and collect a few week's supply and while
you are selling those, farm Tier 2 Elementals for awhile instead. You can farm multiple items to always be
maximizing your profits.
Now that
you have your background knowledge and know how to sell the items to get your gold, here are the farming
spots.
