Great Gathering Location - #1 The Isle of Quel'Danas (levels 70+)

Even though you cannot fly on this island, Rich Adamantite Ore spawns very frequently here. You can take a lap around the island and there are several Adamantite Ore nodes (6 different spawn points total) which constantly respawn around the island.

You can get to this island by taking the portal in Shattrath City. The other great thing about this island is that there are Nightmare Vine (1x) and Mana Thistle (6x) herbs here. If you are also an herbalist, you can take 1 lap around the island as a miner, then switch to herb tracking and take another lap around as an herbalist. This gives the ore nodes plenty of time to respawn.

Given that Adamantite Ore has risen to about 40g per stack on many servers, Mana Thistle has risen to 30g a stack, and Nightmare Vine has risen to 35g a stack, you can quickly see how profitable this area can be.

The other great thing is you do not even need an epic flying mount. If you are a new player with an epic ground mount, you can make tons of gold here by harvesting.

You can easily net ~5 stacks of Adamantite Ore (200g), ~3 stacks of Mana Thistle (90g), and half a stack of Nightmare Vine (20g) each hour. You can also rarely get Khorium nodes to spawn on occasion, each ore being worth 40 gold! You usually will run into 1 node per hour of farming, which the 3 ore (on average) you get from each one is worth 120g.

Adding that all up, you can make approximately 500 gold per hour here (if not more) without 310% mount training. As a result, if you have Herbalism and Mining both leveled up and want to make gold from gathering, this should be your go-to location.

Great Gathering Location #2 - Feralas - Dream Bough (levels 45+)

Currently, Blindweed sells for quite a bit of gold (almost 60g a stack!), though the spawn rates have increased in Cataclysm, which will result in the price falling.

Regardless, there is a particular location in Feralas which has 20 spawn points of Blindweed in a very tight area (not an exaggeration) that you can use to literally collect ~10 stacks of Blindweed an hour. There are also about 7 Fadeleaf spawns and about 15 Iron Ore spawns, as well as a few Khadgar's Whisker spawns.

However, if the prices of Blindweed or Iron Ore are 1g or more, given the density of the spawns, this is a great place to go. It is definitely the best place in game for each of these items.

Here is the area I recommend (mini-map pic to just show how densely the Blindweed spawns in the upper right-hand corner):

Once you hit level ~45, all the enemies will gray out in this area. You can easily cover all the area on your ground mount without getting hit. High-level players can farm here too given how densely everything spawns.

In particular, the ring of water in the top right corner around Dream Bough literally supports 15 Blindweed nodes at the same time. Quite impressive (and profitable!).

There are so many Iron Ore and Blindweed spawns in such a small area here. This is easily the densest place I have found not only for Blindweed but for Iron as well. High-level players can even gather here as well the location is so good.
