Cataclysm Enchanting Guide

In this Cataclysm Enchanting Guide, I will be covering both the4 cheapest and fastest ways to level up your Enchanting professions for the latest WoW Expansion.

However, before we get to the leveling section of the Cataclysm Enchanting guide, I will first talk about the changes Blizzard has promised to make to Enchanting with the coming of Cataclysm:

- Enchanting from levels 450-500 will require less materials (will save you some gold leveling up).

- Enchanters will get vanity pets and items (if that is your sort of thing).

- Some new weapon enchants. Here is what has been seen so far:

Enchant Weapon - Avalanche: Chance on hit to deal nature damage when striking (melee only).

Enchant Weapon - Elemental Slayer: Chance on hit to "disrupt elementals" - this deals arcane damage and causes a 5 second silence.

Enchant Weapon - Heartsong: Chance on hit to increase spirit by 40 for 10 seconds (stacks?).

Enchant Weapon - Hurricane: Chance on hit (melee and spells) to increase haste rating by 350 for 15 seconds (definitely does NOT stack, seems good though)!

Enchant Weapon - Landslide: Chance on hit to increase attack power by 120 for 10 seconds (seems a bit low - maybe it stacks?).

Enchant Weapon - Mending: Chance on hit (melee attack on the enemy) to heal you.

Enchant Weapon - Power Torrent: Chance on hit (spells or melee) to increase spell power by 40 (also seems low - I am guessing it stacks a few times).

Enchant Weapon - Windwalk - Chance on hit (melee) to increase dodge rating by 60 for 10 seconds (guessing this stacks as well).

I am sure there will be more weapon enchants to come, these are just the ones that are known so far. Now, let's get on with the Cataclysm Enchanting guide!

Cataclysm Enchanting Guide 450-525

Overview:

450-465: Enchant Cloak - Greater Spell Piercing
465-475: Enchant Gloves - Haste
475-485: Enchant Cloak - Intellect
485-495: Enchant Chest - Mighty Resilience
495-500: Enchant Gloves - Expertise
500-510: Enchant Cloak - Critical Strike
510-515: Enchant Bracer - Precision
515-525: Enchant Bracer - Exceptional Spirit

Below, I have given several options and reasons why you might stray from the path above. Depending on when you are leveling through this Cataclysm Enchanting guide might change the recipe you decide to use.

450-455

This part is quite easy. The best new recipe to use is Enchant Cloak - Greater Spell Piercing, and it will take you from 450-460 quite easily for just 30 dust.

455-465

You have quite a few options at this point in the Cataclysm Enchanting guide. If you are following this leveling guide right after the release of Cataclysm, you will most likely want to continue with Enchant Cloak - Greater Spell Piercing all the way up to 465.

If you have some left over WoTLK materials, you can actually skill up from 460-465 via the Enchant Bracers - Major Stamina (4 Greater Cosmic Essence and 1 Abyss Shard). These materials will lose a lot of value with the release of Cataclysm, so you might as well use them if you have them.

If you are following this guide at a later point after Cataclysm has been released, it can be quite cheap to go from 455-480 simply by performing the Enchant Ring (agility, strength, intellect, greater stamina) over and over again. These require just 1x Heavenly Shard a piece. This will not be economical at first, but once people start running 5-man instances, the prices on the shards often gets very low.

465-475

At this point, I recommend the Enchant Gloves: Haste (4 dust, 1 Lesser Celestial Essence). Not a bad price for each craft of this recipe.

475-485

For these 10 skill levels, the Enchant Cloak - Intellect (6 dust) is the way to go. Prices are moving up, but as far as leveling Enchanting goes, it does seem a lot cheaper than it did in WoTLK.

Note: If you are following this guide shortly after release, note that we are trying to pick all the recipes that cost minimal Celestial Essence. You are probably getting a lot of Celestial Essence stacking up, but it is best to save these for higher levels.

485-495

Enchant Chest - Might Resilience (9 dust) is the way to go. We can still avoid using Celestial Essence and get 10 more skill-ups. Only 30 points from the top now and we have barely used any Celestial Essence at this point.

495-500

Enchant Gloves - Expertise (5 dust and 2 Greater Celestial Essence) is our recipe for the next 5 levels. Things are going to be expensive from this point out.

500-510

Enchant Cloak - Critical Strike (8 dust, 2 Greater Celestial Essence) works for this part of the Cataclysm Enchanting guide.

510-515

Enchant Bracer - Precision (12 dust, 2 Greater Celestial Essence) is the recipe for this part of the Cataclysm Enchanting guide. We are now in 100g+ lost per Enchant territory, but somehow it is still cheaper than leveling Enchanting was in WoTLK!

515-525

Enchant Bracer - Exceptional Spirit (9 dust, 3 Greater Celestial Essence) will actually take us all the way to 525. If things slow down around 523, you can always switch over to Enchant Cloak - Greater Intellect to finish the job.

Conclusion

Congratulations - you are now at 525 Enchanting! With the changes of Cataclysm, leveling up Enchanting is now finally a good bit cheaper than it was in WoTLK. Despite that, expect to spend several thousand gold moving from 450-525 if you buy all the materials yourself!
