How to Farm WoW Gold

Click here to get WoW CrusherIn World of Warcraft, "farming" gold refers to the practice of repetitively killing NPCs (non-player characters such as monsters or unfriendly humanoids) over and over again in an effort to procure gold.

It does not have to be limited to solo play, and there are a variety of different ways to describe how to farm WoW Gold. In this article, I will describe not only how to farm WoW gold but also discuss some of the best strategies and farm spots.

The best farming items are things that items that can be gotten easily and have a perpetual demand. By default, you will need an item that drops frequently if you want to farm with any sort of regular success.

Additionally, you want an item with a high demand so you do not saturate the market by over-farming. For example, materials for a popular enchant cannot be over-farmed because people will always want that enchant!

While you can use that technique to figure out a nearly inexhaustable list of items to farm, these three methods are common recommendations for people wondering how to farm WoW gold:

1. Farming Eternals (high level players)

Eternals are the primal elements that are used in a variety of enchants and recipes in game. They come as Eternal Fire, Eteranl Life, Eternal Water, Eternal Shadow, Eternal Air, and Eternal Earth. These items are ALWAYS in demand and as a result the price for Eternals is usually pretty good.

However, not every Eternal if valuabe. For example, Eternal Earths are worth practically nothing because they drop from mining, while Eternal Life is very valuable because it is used in many enchants.

You actually do not end up farming the Eternals themselves but rather you farm "Crystallized (insert element name here)". When you kill an elemental, it will drop 1-3 Crystallized elements. Once you collect 10 of these crystallized elements, you can convert them into 1 Eternal.

Prices vary based on day and server, but generally Eternal Life and Eternal Fire are the most valuable items. Crystallized Fire is most easily farmed from the Flame Revenants in the southeast corner of Wintergrasp (but your faction must be controlling Wintergrasp to farm this). Otherwise, you can pick up Crystallized Fire from the Seething Revenants in The Storm Peaks.

Crystallized Life drops from Mature Lashers and Living Lashers in Wintergrasp and the Servants of Freya in Sholazar Basin. With that said, I would only recommend farming this in Wintersgrasp based on mob availability and drop rate.

Word to the wise: Primals are worth the most on Tuesdays, as that is when instances are reset and players get honor points. A lot of people will be looking for enchants these days, so the cost of primals goes way up for that 24 hour period!

2. Mining (any level)

If you are wondering how to farm WoW Gold as a low level player in WoW, mining is a great technique. Honestly, this is the best technique farming WoW gold as a low level player (unless you are skilled at playing the auction house).

High level players looking to change their professions do not want to have to go through the monotony of heading back to the lowbie zones to farm the copper, tin, iron, and thorium ore they will need. As a result, they will pay ridiculous prices in order to power-level their crafts up to the max rank in a day.

Do not worry about undercutting or selling for cheap. Eventually, a high level player will come by that is trying to level up Jewelcrafting or Blacksmithing and just buy all the Copper Ore out.

At level 80 (or 85 in Cataclysm), you will need an epic flying mount to farm gold effectively while mining. Mining is a waste of your time if you already have an epic mount, so I would not recommend this for any reason. If you happen to pass by a mining node, grab it, but I would not go out of my way to mine.

However, if you are level 80, mining is not worthless. When Cataclysm comes out, the new ores will be ridiculously expensive since hardcore players on each server will compete and spend tons of gold in order to be the first high level Blacksmith and Jewelcrafter on the server. You heard it here first!

3. Relics of Ulduar (and any BoE faction item)

Faction items are generally a good go-to item to sell. In The Burning Crusade, Scyer Signets and Arcane Tomes could be traded in for faction and were very valuable.

In Wrath of the Lich King, Relics of Ulduar can be sold on the Auction house for about 50 silver a piece. Many monsters in The Storm Peaks drop these, so just find anything easy to kill and you will have no problem. Try to do dailies in Storm Peaks or farm mobs like the Scion of Storm which also drop Crystallized Air.

Conclusion

You should now know how to farm WoW gold. However, I personally would never do any of these techniques, save maybe mining as a low level player or with the release of Cataclysm.

Personally, I recommend getting a great program like you get in Dugi's Ultimate WoW Guide. This program will organize all your daily quests and take you through the fastest route possible for finishing your dailies. An average time with the program to finish 25 dailies is just over an hour and it provides you with over 300 gold. Even the fastest farmers will be pressed to make 300 gold an hour!
