Levels 1-10 WoW Gold Guide
WoW Gold Guide -->
WoW Farming Guide --> Levels 1-10 WoW Gold Guide (you are
here)

Below, you will find a level-by-level farming guide for herbs, ore, and monsters that you can
gather as you focus on as you are leveling up.
Levels 1-10
As a
player level 1-10, there is not a single thing you can kill that is worth much in terms of gold. The easiest way
to make gold by far is to collect low level herbs and ore:
·
Silverleaf (25
silver)
·
Peacebloom (47
silver)
·
Earthroot (85 silver
each)
·
Copper Ore (34
silver)
Given
that each herb yields 1-3 herbs and each node yields 2-4 copper ore, each time you hit a node you end up with 25
silver - 2.5 gold. It simply cannot be beat!
These
items are found in all level 1-10 zones - Durotar, Elwynn Forest, Dun Morough, etc.

Levels 11-20
Once you
hit ~level 11 (maybe 12-15 depending on starting area) and move into the second zone for your level, which
should be for players levels 11-20 (the Barrens, Westfall, Darkshore, Dun Morough, etc.). You end up with the
following items to harvest:
·
Earthroot (85 silver
each)
·
Mageroyal (1-1.5 gold
each)
·
Briarthorn (4.5 gold -
though this will go down when flying mounts are available in Azeroth)
·
Levels 20-30
Once you
hit level 20 and move into the next set of zones (Ashenvale, Redridge Mountains, Duskwood, Wetlands, etc.) you
will get new sets of items which you can gather. This is where you can actually really earn a ton of gold in any
conditions, given that certain herbs fetch serious premiums:
·
Mageroyal (1-1.5
gold)
·
Briarthorn (4.5 gold -
though this will go down when flying mounts are available in Azeroth)
·
Wild Steelbloom (1.7
gold - spawns on rocks)
·
Bruiseweed (90
silver)
·
Liferoot (85 silver) -
spawns near water)
·
Tin Ore (50
Silver)
·
Silver Ore (rare spawn
from tin; 6 gold each - used to level up mining and a lot more valuable in ore rather than bar form)
·
Gromsblood - 1 gold
(spawns near
·
Grave Moss - 2 gold
(spawns on tombstones - literally)
As you
can see, herbs are a lot less zone-specific, whereas ores are pretty regimented based on the levels of the
monsters in the zone.
At this
point, I want to turn your attention to Grave Moss, a somewhat rare herb that has actually significantly
increased in value. It only has a few spawn points around the world, but it always spawns in the exact same places - in graveyards. This makes Duskwood
the perfect place to get it.
Alliance players almost all pass through Duskwood, so it only makes sense to try to get some of this as you pass by
if you are alliance. In Duskwood, you can find it at each graveyard:

Note that the western
graveyard has multiple spawns; each time you run by here you should be able to pick up 3-5 moss.
Levels 30-40
At this
juncture, there are plenty of profitable ways to earn gold not just by gathering, but also by farming. With that
said, gathering is likely to be more profitable, but I know some players do not want to gather.
Elemental Earth
As
mentioned, at this level you can farm the Raging Earth Elementals in Stonetalon Mountains. They spawn deep
inside an alliance mountain, so it is a bit of a pain to get to for Horde players, but the location is
profitable as Elemental Earth has been known to sell for as much as 10g a piece.
To get
to the spawn location, you have to go into the mine held just inside alliance territory, then head to the
northwest corner. It is actually a huge mine, so you have to walk quite a ways to get to the earth
elementals:

Gathering
Once
again, level 30-40 zones have plenty of valuable herbs and ores. I think the best thing about gathering is that
you barely have to go out of your way to farm for gold while leveling up. Every zone has something profitable,
unlike farming, where you have to travel to some obscure location - and farming while questing just does not
exist.
In any
level 30-40 zone (Desolace, Southern Barrens, Western Plaguelands), you should be able to find the
following:
·
Iron Ore (1.8
gold)
·
Khadgar's Whisker (1.8
gold)
·
Goldthorn (4
gold!)
·
Kingsblood (1.4
gold)
·
Mithril Ore (rare in
level 30 zones - 1.3 gold)
·
Gold Ore (3 gold - rare
spawn from Iron deposits)
Additionally, at level 40 you can
finally pick up an epic mount, so if you want to earn some extra gold, gathering routes can finally be worth it.
I will start to include gathering routes from this point on.
I think
that Desolace makes a great place to farm for low level players, and is rich in Iron Ore, Goldthorn, Kingsblood,
and Khadgar's Whisper. Here is a gathering map (the zone is so big, you only need to cover a small portion of it
on a ground mount):

(For
those on flying mounts, see the gathering section for paths).
