Why Dailies Are a Waste of Time

Dailies occupy the largest space on the "Gold Pyramid". This signifies that this is the method of choice for the majority of the player base to earn gold. Since this is what the "masses" of WoW do for gold, it stands to reason that this is the least profitable means of making gold. After all, if everyone just did dailies and no one sold anything on the AH, gold would have no value.

Allow me to make a real world reference (WoWs economy in many respects functions like a real economy, just much more variably); you can think of doing dailies like working an "average" job. Average is just another way of saying "what the average person is doing". Working an average job does not make you rich. Likewise, doing what everyone else is doing for making gold is not going to make much.

While it may seem like dailies have made it "easy" to get gold, that is not the case at all. All that dailies have done is increase the amount of gold flowing into the economy. This initially resulted in massive inflation (which I believe has leveled off) which lead to an increase in the price of items like gems, enchanting materials, and high-end epics. 

As evidence of the devaluing of gold following the introduction of dailies, the number of daily quests allowed per day increased from 10 to 25. The real reason for this is that the 100g or so provided by 10 dailies was no longer enough to pay the e-bills (unless you did dailies 7 days a week). 

Fortunately, this has led to a favorable position for those of you reading this guide. Players who do their dailies every day have tons of gold that they are ready to spend on items to the entrepreneurial players willing to sell the goods. That player can be you!   

Enough with the pep talk. Next is the farming guide, which goes over some easy methods to earn gold. While farming is not the best way to earn gold, it can be good to get you the base amount of gold needed to get started in the other areas (professions and playing the AH).
