Enchanting

A year ago, I would have said that Enchanting is so worthless it is not even worth trying to make money off of. However, now thanks to the introduction of Enchanting Vellum, it can be one of the most lucrative methods make gold. 

Quick Note About Disenchanting

Thanks to the disenchant roll option in instances (where anyone can roll for items to disenchant), the costs of all enchanting materials will go down. This in turn will cause the price of many enchants to go down as well.

This is good and bad for the enchanter; it means you will be able to list more auctions at once, and possibly make more % of profit per sale, but your overall gold per sale will probably be less than what it would have been had this feature never been invented.

At any rate, let's talk about the most profitable recipes! 

High-End Enchants

When it comes to making gold, I prefer to do it by using the most expensive recipes. This leads to more gold earned per sale, which means less time invested earning gold.  

I like to sell high-end enchants because you will not have competition from people leveling up. I also like to sell weapon enchants because even the cheapest, most casual player will enchant their weapon. It is law. 

Here are the most profitable weapon enchants: 

·          Enchant Weapon: Landslide (enchant of choice for 2-hand users) 

·          Enchant Weapon: Power Torrent (enchant of choice for DPS casters) 

·          Enchant Weapon: Windwalk (enchant of choice for tanks) 

All three of these enchants are level 525 (i.e. no one crafting them for skill ups) and all of them will be in relatively high demand. This means there is a very high chance for them to be profitable on your server. 

These weapon enchants also have the potential to be profitable: 

·          Enchant Weapon: Hurricane (enchant of choice for Rogues) 

·          Enchant Weapon: Heartsong (enchant of choice for Healers) 

·          Enchant 2H Weapon: Mighty Agility (enchant of choice for Hunters) 

All three of these enchants will certainly be in high demand, but they are not 525 skill. This means that some players, at least initially, may use them to get skills up while trying to turn a small profit. Be sure to check your AH to make sure these markets are not saturated (i.e. going price of enchant being less than that of the materials).  

I like to get at least a 20 gold or 15% mark-up over the material cost, whichever is more, on each enchant that I sell. In other words, if Heartsong is currently going for 300g, and the materials cost more than 255g (i.e. me selling for 300g would be a 15% mark-up of 255 gold), I will not bother buying the materials and selling it.  

Other High-End Enchants

Any level 525 enchant can be sold on enchanting vellum for profit. Here is a partial list of profitable enchants: 

·          Enchant Boots - Assassin's Step (good) 

·          Enchant Boots - Lavawalker (good) 

·          Enchant Bracer - Greater Critical Strike (really good) 

·          Enchant Bracer - Greater Speed (really good) 

·          Enchant Chest - Greater Stamina (tank enchant of choice) 

·          Enchant Chest - Peerless Stats (DPS enchant of choice) 

·          Enchant Chest - Exceptional Spirit (Healer enchant of choice) 

·          Enchant Cloak - Greater Critical Strike (excellent) 

·          Enchant Gloves - Enchant Glovers - Mighty Strength 

·          Enchant Gloves - Greater Mastery 

You should check out the AH daily and make sure there are at least 10 of these enchants for sale on vellums for all of these recipes. If there is ever a shortage, create these enchants and list them on the AH. 

All of these can be very profitable, it is just a matter of being consistent with checking. Again, I would not bother doing this unless you can make at least 20g profit in the process.  

Twink Enchants

Enchanting Vellum has offered some new and very profitable opportunities - twink enchants. If you are not aware, twinks are low-level characters that are "twinked" with the best gear possible, including enchants. 

You can earn a lot of gold by enchanting the best twink enchants to vellum and then listing them on the auction house. They do not sell as quickly, but the competition is so much lower that you can often make a killing by selling these on your server. 

The most active twink brackets are levels 19 and 29. Since Burning Crusade enchants require at least level 35, the most active twink markets are for Vanilla WoW enchants.  

Here are the best recipes: 

·          Enchant Weapon: Crusader 

·          Enchant Bracer: Superior Stamina 

·          Enchant Chest: Greater Stats 

·          Enchant Cloak: Stealth 

·          Enchant Gloves: Healing Power 

·          Enchant Gloves: Superior Agility 

·          Enchant Weapon: Lifestealing 

·          Enchant Weapon: Spellpower 

·          Enchant Weapon: Superior Striking 

·          Enchant Boots: Greater Agility 

·          Enchant Bracers: Superior Strength 

·          Enchant 2H Weapon: Greater Agility 

·          Enchant Chest: Major Mana 

·          Enchant Weapon: Agility 

·          Enchant Chest: Major Health 

·          Enchant Weapon: Fiery Weapon 

·          Enchant Boots: Minor Run Speed 

·          Enchant Bracer: Healing Power 

·          Enchant Weapon: Mighty Intellect (see below for more info) 

Now, this may seem like a lot of enchants, but given how profitable these can be when the right person comes along and how cheap it is to list vellums on the auction house, this is a huge market with ultra-low competition. You can make a killing. 

Create 1-2 vellums with each enchant and list them all on the Auction House for a premium buyout and leave them up for 48 hours. Every 48 hours, check your mail, and relist the ones that did not sell. Replenish the ones that did sell and repeat the process. 

You can easily net 20-50 gold off each enchant and successfully sell 10 or more a day. What is more likely is that you will sell only a few some days and on another day sell a lot of enchants to the same person who is building a twink. 

Enchant Weapon: Mighty Intellect

In Cataclysm, Intellect now increases spell-power, making this little-known enchant the best twink enchant for casters in the game. You actually need reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood to buy this enchant, which means almost no one your server has it. 

You can get the reputation you need by following the guide on wowwiki (http://www.wowwiki.com/Thorium_Brotherhood#Reputation_guide). 

Once you have the rep, you can buy the recipe and sell the enchants for 400+ gold a piece (mats do not even cost 1/3 of that) and you are likely to sell 1-5 a week, depending on your server.  

About Offering Enchanting Services

Do not sit around in town and offer to do enchants for "tips" or 10g. This is a colossal waste of time when you can use your own materials and sell on the auction house for much larger profits.  

Even if you are doing 20 enchants an hour (very unlikely), at 10g a piece you will only earn 200 gold an hour, which is terrible to say the least. You can earn twice that from farming, and 10x that from quickly enchanting all the twink and high-end enchants and keeping them stocked on the auction house. 

Enchanting Conclusion

To wrap-up, here is the easy way to making a ton of gold via enchanting: 

·          Keep the AH stocked with all the best twink enchants. Be sure to list them for a large mark-up over the material cost and be sure to list many different types of enchants, as these will not sell very frequently. 

·          Keep the AH stocked with all the 525 skill enchants, particularly the weapon enchants. These sell well on raiding days and days when arena points are awarded. 

·          For the largest profits, work on getting obscure twink recipes like Enchant Weapon: Crusader and Enchant Weapon: Mighty Intellect. There is almost no competition in these markets and the demand is high. This leads to large profits, often to the tune of several hundred gold.
