Playing the Auction House is a term used to describe the process of buying and reselling items for profit. Ideally, you grab items that someone put up below market value and then relist them for a higher price.

Players often list items such as gems and enchanting materials well below their market value in order to get them to sell quickly. You can buy these items and then relist them on the auction house for their normal market value.

You can make 1000s of gold by playing the auction house. However, it is a little tougher than it sounds. Here are my WoW gold making tips you need to follow in order to make tons of gold while playing the auction house.

1. Pay attention to the days of the week.

Much like the tides, prices on the Auction House ebb and flow. There are two major things of interest.

Firstly, konw that prices are lowest morning and highest in the evening. As a result, by logging on in the morning before work or during the day, you can often find some good deals. As an example, some Eternals routinely go for 20g in the AM and 30g in the PM.

Secondly, prices rise and fall throughout the week. Players getting new honor, arena, and raiding gear drive the economy. These players have to spend their gold to get fresh enchants and gems on their new gear. They are also eager to show it off and are willing to spend extra gold to equip it right away. Above all the WoW gold making tips, always remember that impatient players are always eager to spend their gold; you just need to be the person collecting it!

As a result, on the day of a fresh raid zone reset and the day Arena points are awarded (Tuesday, perhaps Wednesday on Euro and Asian servers. Ask someone on your server if you are unsure of the reset time), prices on enchanting materials and gems rise dramatically. Note that this day may vary server to server.

Prices tend to be lowest on Sunday, as less normal players are playing but plenty of people are farming. No one is getting gear since less raiding occurs on weekends and Arena points have yet to be awarded.

2. Avoid items with a high listing cost.

The more an item vendors for, the more you will have to pay to list it. I am referring to the 1 silver to 10+ gold fee you have to pay to put an item up for sale on the auction house. Imagine this:

- You buy a rare weapon for 40g that normally goes for 100g
- It cost 7g per day to keep it listed
- It takes 1 week to sell

Even if it sells for 100g, you just lost all your profit to AH fees. I avoid cheap rares for this reason. Underpriced epics can take a long time to sell as well but if your markup is 500g+, it is definitely worth it.

Items with very low AH fees with great potential generally are materials uses by crafting professions, like enchanting dust and low-level ore. Do not ignore this as this is one of my best WoW gold making tips. Trying to play the auction house with weapons is very risky!

3. Pick items that are good!

Do not try to sell an item that is not good or has a low demand. The hassle will not be worth the measly profit. At first, sell items for your class that you know are good. People will be much more likely to buy those. If you have a twink, keep an eye out for great twink gear as people pay a lot for that as well.

Trying to play the AH with trashy epics and rares will rarely work out in your favor. Always go with an item that you know players will want!
