WoW Inscription Gold Guide

Inscription Guide
Inscription can be a decent way to
make some gold. In fact, you can pretty much take care of all your gold needs with inscription (much like any
profession). There is only one requirement: a lot of recipes and a lot of inscriptions.
The
thing that makes Inscriptions very unique is that the listing price on the Auction House is nominal. In other
words, you will not lose money if your auctions do not sell.
Since
you can list your glyphs for any price, and if they do not sell, relist them for practically nothing, it leaves
the market open for us to make quite a bit of gold. Here is how it works:

Guide
·
Create 1-2 copies of every
single type of glyph that you have the recipe for.
·
List them all for a high
mark-up, preferably 20-30 gold more than you paid for the materials. You can list in excess of 100 glyphs since
they are so cheap to list - list as many glyphs as you have the space for.
·
List all glyphs for 48 hour
auctions and list them all at the same time.
·
Every 2 days, check on your
auctions, and relist the ones that did not sell. Replace the ones that did sell.
That is
really all there is to it - once you craft your initial set of 30+ glyphs, you can often sell them for 20-50
gold mark-up as long as you keep the AH stocked. Eventually, a time will come when yours is the only type of
glyph on the AH, and someone who really wants it will buy it.
Forget
selling glyphs for a few gold profit, it just is not worth the time - list them all for 20+g and you will be
able to sell 10-30 (depending on how many you list) every 2 days.
It only
takes a few minutes to list all the auctions with a mod like Auctioneer (http://auctioneeraddon.com/) and a mail
opener like OpenAll (http://www.wowace.com/addons/openall/) and you will be able to open all your mail very
easily.
Since
you are charging so much for glyphs, you will not sell nearly as many. This actually saves time because that
means you do not need to recraft glyphs that you have sold. Every time you do have to craft a glyph, you know
you have just made 20-30g so it is worth your time.
While
your long-term source of gold will be made via glyphs, there are other ways to make gold, which I will cover
below.
Darkmoon Cards
With the
release of every new expansion (or every new set of Darkmoon Faire trinkets), you can make a solid amount of
gold from Darkmoon Faire Cards. There are two ways you can do this: actively farming them and by using your
spare Inferno Ink.
Actively Farming Darkmoon
Cards
If you
actively want to try to farm Darkmoon Cards, you can do the following:
·
Mill Cinderbloom, Stormvine,
Azshara's Veil, Heartblossom, Twilight Jasmine, or Whiptail (whichever is cheapest).
·
10 Inferno Inks are required
for each Darkmoon Card, which you can then sell on the Auction House.
·
Convert all leftover Ashen
Pigments into Blackfallow Ink and then turn the ink into glyphs. Turn the spare ink into glyphs. If you really need
to dump a bunch of these, you buy Inferno Ink for 10 Blackfallow Inks (at the Inscription vendor in Stormwind /
Orgrimmar).
Naturally, this requires the price of
the average Darkmoon Card to be several hundred gold. This does not seem to be likely, and as a result, I do not
recommend this approach. I recommend using them as an Inferno Ink dump.
Using your Spare Inferno
Ink
Inferno
ink has little use outside of making your BoP epics; I recommend simply converting your Inferno Ink into
Darkmoon Cards as you happen to get it as you create glyphs. It is an easy way to make some extra gold as you
create glyphs to sell on the auction house.
Darkmoon Cards and the Darkmoon
Faire
Darkmoon
Cards spike in value around the time the Darkmoon Faire comes to town. As you create cards, save them for a few
days before the Darkmoon Faire comes to town. Players will start looking for cards at this time and the prices
will skyrocket.
Note:
The Darkmoon Faire comes around the Sunday before the first Monday of the month (why it is not just the first
Monday of each month, I have no idea). It is easier to just consult the WoW Event calendar to check the schedule
for the Darkmoon Faire (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/events/calendar/).
Dust of Disappearance and Enchanting
Vellum
Both of
these items will sell very rapidly (possibly to the magnitude of 100+ per day on each server). Keeping your
auction house well-supplied can make you quite a bit of gold.
I
recommend listing these in stacks of 1, as most players will only be looking for 1. Some Enchanters may be
looking for stacks of Enchanting Vellum, but most will just be looking to send an enchant to their alt or their
friend, so I find selling these in singles works the best.
Most
people just want to change 1-2 glyphs around with each respec or build change, so Dust of Disappearance also
works best in stacks of 1.
Just be
sure to check the AH regularly, and whenever the price rises enough for this to be profitable, craft a few dozen
and list them up in singles. Auctioneer once again helps in automating this process.
Inscription Wrap-Up - Putting it All
Together
Here is
your easy step-by-step plan for making a few hundred gold per day (or more!) in just a few minutes of
playing:
·
Craft 2-3 of each type of
glyph that you have the recipe for.
·
List every glyph you have on
the auction house for 48 hours for a minimum of 30 gold (more if market price dictates it). Make sure you are
making a 20 gold profit off of each sale.
·
Check your mail every 2 days
and relist all the glyphs that do not sell. Create the ones that do sell again and list them over
again.
·
Convert all your extra
Inferno Ink into Darkmoon Cards and list when the Darkmoon Faire event is live on the server.
